CONTRACT VALUE - £12 million

The Scottish Executive's commitment to maintain and upgrade key routes was evident in several contract awards to implement improvements to the A1 and A7. In a joint venture with Balfour Beatty, this included the design and build of a new section of dual carriageway on the A1 between Houndwood and Howburn. This project featured the construction of a bridge, underpass and badger crossings. We were also responsible for building the Inner Relief Road in Hawick in partnership with Morrison Construction, which was designed to ease traffic congestion in the town centre and included the construction of a new bridge over the River Teviot. SBc Contracts also completed the final section of dual carriageway on the A1 between Edinburgh and Dunbar at Thistly Cross. This project was completed 2 months ahead of schedule.
