Heavyside Bridge

restored stone bridge

Project Title: Heavyside Bridge

Client: SBC Asset Management

Value: £380 K

Description:

The single barrelled bridge was to be stripped down to top off arch level with all stone being removed including wingwalls in tandem with the excavations.

A designed support system scaffold for the structure was installed from the river level to create suitable loadings to allow the safe re-building of the bridge.

The inner face of the re-build to the walls to stringer level was constructed with concrete blocks and ties to ensure attachment to the outside stone face.

The void between the blocks was filled with light weight foam concrete up to roadway formation level.

Specified Waterproofing was then applied in advance of the road kerbs and surfacing materials.

All landscaping to affected private land and verges were made good at the end of the project.
